Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a skincare workshop?
Good question! A skincare workshop is not something many people have heard of before, which is why I’m so excited to be able to offer this unique and creative activity.
Imagine a group cooking class/workshop - except instead of making food, we’re making our own skincare! Together, we’ll go through the range of natural ingredients provided, and you’ll be guided step by step through the process. The products we make in the workshops depend on the length of workshop that has been selected, but range from 1 to 2 products.
During the workshop, you will also get shown techniques for how to do a home facial massage (on yourself), using a natural oil provided in the workshop.
Does everyone make the same products in the workshop?
We provide a range of different ingredients, and the workshop host will introduce you to each, and it’s benefit to the skin. Our products start with a similar base, encouraging guests to then add and customise as we go under guidance from our expert host.
Who runs wholeface?
Wholeface is run by Tanya Truman - hello!
I trained as an actor, and alongside performing, I have also worked in many different industries, including theatre producing, event production, and product and brand training. I love doing many things, but have realised all the things I do are with the same goal in mind: to create wholesome experiences. I worked at LUSH for over 7 years, and here I gained a vast amount of knowledge in skincare and natural ingredients, running training classes, and ‘Lush Lessons’ for colleagues and customers across the UK and Internationally.
Skincare has always my biggest passion - I’ve enjoyed creating my own recipes at home for over 10 years now!
During lockdown, I started up my own business, where I delivered ingredient kits and recipe cards to people’s homes, for them to create their own skincare products in their kitchens! My vision was always to expand and create in person group workshops and skincare events. Fast forward to 2024 - and I’ve rebranded to wholeface to do just that!
I’m always looking for assistants to facilitate my workshops - if this is of interest, please get in touch.
Do we get to try the products we make in the workshop?
You’ll be shown a demonstration of how to use the products, and can then choose if you’d like to give it a try then and there, or if you’d rather wait until you’re home! If hosting at a private home, this is often a cosier experience where I can provide headbands, facial towels, to have a bit more of an ‘at home pamper’ session. If hosting in a workplace or public venue, guests sometimes prefer to wait until they are home to try out the products on the skin.
It’s totally flexible depending on what you feel comfortable with. Some people might have makeup on if they are going out somewhere directly afterwards, however if you’re heading straight back home to cosy up on the sofa, by all means, get those products on your skin!
What kind of ingredients will we be using to make the products?
All ingredients provided are natural ingredients, many of which are things you’d find in your kitchen cupboards at home!
We’ll have a range of kitchen staples such as oats/polenta/honey/spices, as well as wonderful clays, essential oils, and botanical additions.
I have very sensitive skin. Will this workshop be suitable for me?
Absolutely! The recipes we make in the workshop can absolutely be tailored for delicate and sensitive skin, with many gentle and calming ingredients provided. Tanya will also ask lots of questions about your skin during the workshop, to help guide and advise which ingredients would be most suitable and what might need omitting if too stimulating.
I have an allergy - what do I do?
At the booking stage, you’ll be prompted to share any details about allergies, and the severity of them. In most cases, we can switch out an ingredient in the workshop and you can use an alternative.
If you have a severe allergy to an ingredient which cannot be used by anybody in close proximity, (eg. nuts), we will fully remove that ingredient from the workshop.
How do I book?
Please get in touch at hello@wholeface.co.uk and we can get planning your Natural Handmade Skincare Workshop!
